Please post any bugs you have come across below.

Known bugs so far include:
  • User session expires very quickly whilst your trying to create a new account.
  • Yahoo Accounts fail to log in and cause a crash
  • Spoiler tags are broken on the homepage
Dwain edit here:
I might just add that the site looks its absolute best in Firefox ^_^ Don't use internet explorer if you can avoid it

Issue: User session expires very quickly whilst your trying to create a new account.

Solution: Create a basic account (with the gamer ID you want) as fast as possible and then come back and edit your account details once you are already signed in.

I just deployed revision ae0e6f20af00, which fixes some bugs. Here's the list of pertinent changes (there are other changes that are not directly visible to the end-user):
  • The form on the Start New Conversation page now uses the normal JavaScript-enabled post editor.
  • The form on the New Thread page now uses the normal JavaScript-enabled post editor.
  • The Subject textbox on the post editor is now wider
  • Fixed layout issues with the first post in a thread's author icons & the breadcrumbs on the page
  • Added a pretty landing page for when the site goes offline for maintenance
  • Fixed typos in BBCode button descriptions

Oops, spoke too soon. No sooner than I had uploaded the last fix, I ran into a nasty bug that meant if you typed HTML into the Post Editor, Proxiteam's crash page got pasted into the preview. Also, if you submitted the form, you'd crash. And I thought was going to bed too... :(

Anyway, that's fixed now in rev fb580eb43458. Phew.

I sense that it's going to be a bumpy ride folks. Strap in.

EDIT: Every time I think I'm done and want to go to bed, I find another bug and need to fix it. I'm a compulsive bug fixer. :( Rev 9bedd3fab504:
  • Fixed submitting user profile edit form redirected back to the site index
  • Fixed another typo in the BBCode button descriptions

Sorry about that! That'll learn you for sleeping. :D

If anyone ends up seeing the Server Error page when they're doing anything, I would really appreciate it if you popped into this thread immediately and told us exactly what you were doing at the time. If you crashed when submitting a form, please include any input you were entering into it at the time (if that causes another crash, email it to Dwain or I; our emails are in our profiles).

I've just deployed a new set of fixes (so we're at revision 5afdb9666755 now).
  • Fixed crash when users submit the Sign In form with an empty Identifier textbox.
  • Fixed crash in BbCode when you used a url tag like this [url=]my tag[/url]
  • Fixed cases in BbCode where whitespace was not being handled intelligently (for example, around nested quote tags)
  • Fixed the Reply Count in forums actually showing the Post Count (which is one higher than the reply count)
  • Dimmed the red in Random race icon back a bit
  • Improved the spacing between the rostered members in the right hand column
  • Changed the use of h1 tags for the left and right column section headings to h2 tags
  • Made the News post titles on the main page link to the forum topic
  • Added a favicon

These changes are horrible and deplorable and wholly outside the realm of logic!

PS. You're awesome!

Cheers maareek! Prepare for more horrible, deplorable, illogical and awesome changes:

Revision 959f7c6ea1c7:
  • Improved HTTP Status Code handling. Errors (eg 404 Not Found, 500 Server Error) no longer redirect you to an error page which has a 200 Success code. They now display the error page directly with the correct error code. This improves SEO (search engine optimisation) for the site (as pages that are not found now actually 404, instead of 302ing (redirect) then 200ing), and also will stop the error page getting pasted into the forum post preview area if something breaks on the server.
  • Trying to view an invalid Thread no longer causes a crash; it now causes a 404
  • Trying to view an invalid Forum no longer causes a crash; it now causes a 404
  • Improved the efficiency of viewing a Forum Thread
This is what I look like right now :D

EDIT: Another revision (b8dbdfbe5869):
  • Turned on compression, which should result in faster page loads as it cuts the file sizes being transmitted down to around a quarter of their actual size.
Let me know if you actually can feel any difference.

I pushed out a new patch tonight (ffbe8a038af2). Nothing too major:
  • Fixed Maar's Flash bug where percentage encoded characters where capitals were used in the hex value weren't recognised as valid URLs
  • You can now put an img tag inside a url tag (linkable images!). This is good for thumbnails
  • Spacing above quote, code, and list tags is handled more appropriately (change in BBcode as well as site styling)
  • Fixed post preview refresh often getting stuck on a slightly old version of your post and not refreshing it until you poked it again with some new text

Rev 8b42bfd2e408

Fixed a bug reported by Dwain, that users were able to go proxiteam.net (and therefore some OpenID providers would treat this as different to www.proxiteam.net). Now all users are automatically redirected to www.proxiteam.net when they try to go to proxiteam.net.

Note that this may screw with existing users if they regularly use proxiteam.net (instead of www.proxiteam.net) and they use one of those OpenID providers (for example, Google). If you are one of these users, create a new user then email us at admin [at] proxiteam.net and give us your new gamerhandle and your old gamerhandle and I'll shift you back to using your old account. Sorry about making you deal with it, but there is no way for us to detect these users and make the adjustments automatically (these OpenID providers make it like this on purpose to ensure your privacy so you can't be tracked across websites).

Talked about this earlier but want to write it here so it doesn't get forgotten about:

When a user has enough text in the forum-post textarea, highlights some text and applies a tag, it scrolls to the top of the textarea.

Revision 1e9ca1117284:
  • Fixed the bug in our error reporting that effectively meant we aren't getting sent the BbCode you guys seem to be writing that crashes the BbCode renderer. We'll be able to fix whatever the issue is once we can actually get stuff to reproduce it.
